If I sell my house by owner, and I have say a friend make the house available to an interested party, because I can't be there. Is that against the law? Will I get in trouble?
Asked by Sharon in Hamilton, Ohio ----- Your friend can open the house for the interested buyer, but don't put yourself in a situation where a prospective buyer thinks that your friend is representing you and the home. You would be smart to call the prospective buyer before any home tour and inform him/her that your friend does not own the home and will be unable to answer any questions about the home. Buyers often have many questions about a home, such as age of the heating system, and any such question should only be answered by you. Agree on a time soon after the home tour where you and the interested buyer can discuss any questions they might have. Hope this helps! Eric |
